We finally come to show a few symptoms of TMED (Too Much English Disorder).
A first symptom came to Kim and me last Friday. When Karen said " ..not thurgy ..", we felt a little ashamed because we didn't figure out what English word "thurgy" was. We wispered to Karen, " What does 'thrugy' mean, Karen?" Not understanding what our question was, she asked us back again. " thurgy? What is it?" Then Kim and I realised that we had a slight symptom of Too Much English disorder. It was "낯설지.. that Karen said in Korean at that time." What a nonsense , Kim and Park(me)!
The second absurd error happened when Karen misunderstood a few words in Noel's class today. While we were doing small talk with him at the beginning, he said " .... bought a car...." Karen heard them as 'vodca' Russian liquor and responded in an awkward way. We were all laughing heartily and the great actor Noel made fun of her, gibberishing as if drunken.
The third symptom was a happening in Brad's class. When Brad said to Jumi, " Jumi un-nee", I and the other classmates couldn't believe our ears because Brad was not such a teacher who would say the cutesy Korean words like un nee (sister). So we giggled, imitating " Wow, Jumi un nee.." But we were wrong! In fact, Brad just called " Jumi and Mi."
We must be developing a serious disorder. Too Much English Disorder is gradually casting its dark shadow over our classroom.
